This spring, Mr. Vojtěch Slavík forecasted a high crop of oil seed rape planted using our Falcon SW with STRIP technology (illustration photo). Now, after the harvest, everything is done and Mr. Slavík was happy to inform me that Falcon is the right choice for establishing oil seed rape crop.
On 18th August 2017, within the “Oil Seed Rape Seeding DEMO Tour”, we planted a field with an area of approx. 10 hectares using our Falcon SW STRIP set. Vojtěch Slavík later admitted, and now confirmed, that the field is one of their worse fields. Among others, it has quite a slope and heavy clay soil. However, Falcon SW STRIP coped with that and the result of this year’s harvest exceeding the expectations. The Sidney variety at a seed batch of 3.5 kg/ha (55 to 60 plants per m2) turned out to give more yield than other hybrid varieties that they grow.
Vojtěch Slavík stated that the plants had a lower habitus but they had healthy roots and could grow their roots at a greater depth with developed root hairs thanks to the work of the front STRIP section that aerated soil in depth. The field was also the first one to regenerate in spring and the yield of 3.2 t was historically the highest in this field. Also, the other fields where the Falcon PRO seed drill was used, with a front double-disc pre-processing section, did very good. For example, at Pospíšilova stráň with an area of 45 ha, where LG Arsenal hybrid was planted with a seed batch of 2.5 kg/ha (40 plants per m2), the yield was 3.5 t. Slavík’s farm is in the Jičín district and the oil seed rape harvest on an area of 200 hectares was done quickly and without any complications. The yield ranged from 2 to 4.5 t/ha.
