Screw Presses for Efficient Processing of Black Soldier Fly Larvae
One of the key aspects of our collaboration is the application of screw presses, which Farmet develops and manufactures. These presses, commonly used for processing oilseeds, will now also be used for pressing black soldier fly larvae. The goal of this process is to reduce the oil content in the larvae, which is an important step for their further processing into animal feed. Thanks to this technology, we can significantly increase production efficiency while ensuring higher quality of the final product.
The Importance of Insects in Animal Feed
Insects, specifically black soldier fly larvae, are becoming an increasingly important source of protein in animal feed. The benefits include high nutritional value, low environmental demands for farming, and the possibility of utilizing organic waste as food for the larvae. The collaboration between Farmet and Entomo allows us to leverage these benefits and integrate innovative solutions into the insect processing workflow, contributing to sustainability and the development of new animal feed technologies.
This step represents another milestone in our effort to bring innovative technologies to the market that not only enhance efficiency but also contribute to more sustainable agriculture and food production. Together with Entomo, we look forward to further development and expansion of our joint projects.
